These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the School TLDR service ("Service"), including our website and email summarization platform. By accessing or using School TLDR, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you may not use our Service.

School TLDR is a subscription-based email summarization service that helps parents and guardians stay informed about school communications. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

Your Account & Responsibilities

Creating Your Account

To use School TLDR, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old or have parental consent
  • Provide accurate, complete, and current information
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your password and account
  • Immediately notify us of any unauthorized access to your account

Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms
  • Not engage in any conduct that restricts or inhibits anyone's use or enjoyment of the Service
  • Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems
  • Forward only legitimate school communications to our service
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

Subscription & Payment

Billing

School TLDR offers paid subscription plans with monthly and annual billing options. Pricing is displayed at the time of purchase and may be subject to change with 30 days' notice. We will notify you of any price changes via email.

Payment Terms

  • Payment is due in advance for each billing cycle
  • We accept major credit cards through our payment processor (Stripe)
  • Your payment method will be charged automatically on the recurring billing date
  • You are responsible for providing accurate billing information

Cancellation & Refunds

  • Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings
  • Refunds: Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable. Annual subscriptions may be eligible for a pro-rata refund within 14 days of purchase
  • Your account will remain active until the end of your current billing period
  • Upon cancellation, you will lose access to paid features

Intellectual Property Rights

Our Content

School TLDR, including our website, application, logos, designs, and summarization technology, are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or transmit any content without our prior written consent.

Your Content

When you forward school emails to School TLDR, you retain ownership of the original content. You grant us a limited license to:

  • Process and summarize the content for you
  • Store the content for the duration of your subscription
  • Use aggregated, anonymized data to improve our Service

Restrictions

You may not:

  • Use our Service to create competing products or services
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract our proprietary algorithms
  • Scrape or automatically extract data from our Service

Warranties & Limitations

Service "As-Is"

School TLDR is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely accurate. Email summarization may occasionally miss details or misinterpret content.

Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of Liability

In no event shall School TLDR be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Note: School TLDR is a productivity tool and should not be relied upon as your only source of school communications. Always review school emails directly for critical information.

Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use School TLDR to:

  • Harass, threaten, or defame any person or organization
  • Transmit viruses, malware, or any code of a destructive nature
  • Access or search the Service by any means other than our publicly supported interfaces
  • Collect or use personal information about others without consent
  • Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or rights of third parties
  • Engage in any form of fraud, impersonation, or misleading conduct

Termination for Violations

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately if we determine you have violated these Terms or engaged in prohibited conduct. Upon termination, you lose all rights to use the Service.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless School TLDR, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any law or third-party rights
  • Content you forward to our Service

Third-Party Services

School TLDR uses third-party services including Stripe for payments and Supabase for data storage. These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party conduct or service interruptions.

You acknowledge that using our Service requires internet connectivity and that network interruptions may prevent access to the Service.

Termination

Either party may terminate these Terms and your use of the Service at any time. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service immediately ceases
  • We will delete your account data according to our Data Retention Policy
  • Sections regarding Intellectual Property, Limitation of Liability, and Indemnification survive termination

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflicts of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be resolved through good faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association rules.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time by posting the revised version on our website. Your continued use of the Service after any changes indicates your acceptance of the new Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically to stay informed of any changes.

For significant changes, we will provide 30 days' notice via email and/or a prominent notice on our website.
